About the Artist: A North Carolina native and master potter-sculptor,
Roland T. Hamner, III was reared in Gastonia. At an early age he demonstrated
a keen interest in art. Throughout his public schooling, he took many
art courses and private lessons. After graduating high school, he continued
study in art, concentrating on architecture, sculpture, and pottery-making.
Notable skills Rolland developed were ones for creating unique Metalscapes.
Roland studies at the University of Tennessee, Gaston College, and received
his Bachelor of Creative Arts from the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte. After obtaining his degree, Hamner became
a graphics design professional. The many displays and packages he designed
testified to his interest and understanding of 3-dimensional form, color,
and contemporary design. Throughout his adulthood, Roland has continued
to explore metalscaping and unique pottery-making. His metalscapes hang
in many environments throughout the nation, allowing owners to create
special focal points: e.g. a meditation corner in a quiet garden. His
pottery suggests contemporary and traditional forms and his glazing techniques
reflect an understanding of color theory and painting. |
