"Painting
is my life, my work, and my fun. I am compelled to paint. My paintings
seem to paint themselves, and it is almost an unconscious act. I love
color and freedom of expression. And, I'm very serious and dedicated to
this work. Much of my inspiration seems to come from a deep love for music
and nature. Taking a landscape class at the Pennsylvania Academy of the
Fine Arts was the moment of self-discovery and I then focused on plein
air landscapes. Eventually, after the tics became too friendly and my
dog contracted lyme disease, I moved inside and became a studio painter.
Then I found new freedom, tried acrylics and learned of vast new possibilities
within this media. In addition, a singing trip to Eastern Europe and visiting
sites of famous composers brought about my musical - floral abstracts.
The melodies of Beethoven, Dvorak, and the energy of Elvis and Cool and
The Gang others made me dance and paint. I am a musician wannabe, having
studied piano, flute and voice. I have a love of experimentation and variety,
and hope these aspects never change; but I also return to landscape perhaps
to keep myself grounded and part of the earth. When I camp, walk and bicycle,
I can't help but feel inspired to continue the landscape, and when my
flowers bloom, feel inspired to do the florals."
